The Delegation Settings provided configuration information to the Extranet Collaboration application. Settings define on this page are applied to the current site and any site inheriting permissions from the current site. Sub-Web breaking permission inheritance from this site do not inherit the Delegation Settings.
Delegation Type
The Delegation Type is used by the Manage Alerts page to determine what accounts a Delegation Administrators can manage. The Role Delegation Provider uses Membership roles to groups manageable accounts. The Delegation Participants SharePoint group is used to a Delegated Administrator access to needed resources.

Password Settings
The Allow Password Change option determines if the 'Change My Password' and 'Change My Questions' menu items appear in the personalization menu. The Allow Password Reset option allows a user to reset their password using the ResetMyPassword.aspx page. The Password Reset Template determines how the Reset My Password page operates. The Password Reset Template has three options..
Generate password with hint and e-mail - The user will be required to provide the correct e-mail address and answer to their password recovery questions. If answered correctly a password will be randomly generated and an e-mail will be sent to the user containing the new password.
Generate password without hint and e-mail - The user will be required to provide an e-mail address and answer. A password will be randomly generated and an e-mail will be sent to the user containing the new password.
Let users define their own passwords with hints - The user will be required to provide the correct e-mail address and answer to their password recovery questions. The user can immediately provide a new password for their account.
When using the forgot my password features a link to the Reset My Password page is usually added to the login page. The Forgot My Password page URL is http://{domain}/_layouts/SPSolutions/Delegation/ResetMyPassword.aspx.

Profile Settings
The Allow users to manage their own profiles option determines if the 'My Profile and Settings' menu items appear in the personalization menu. Users may use this page to update their membership information and membership profile information. The list of available profile attributes is define in the web.config file of the Web Application.

Navigation Settings
The navigation settings section can be used to define the location of the page uses by general users. By default these pages reside in the Layouts directory which may have a different look and feel from your site. You can copy these pages into your site with SharePoint Designer and modify the master page. This enables these pages to be branded with your company look-and-feel.
Another useful feature of the Navigation Settings is to hard code the fully qualified path of the Registration URL to the path of your Extranet zone. This enables invitations to be sent to external users from your internal site (if configured). In this scenario the invitation e-mail will contain the fully qualified path to the extranet site.
