How do I Install Alert Manager 2007?

This document describes how to install Alert Manager 2007 to your SharePoint farm. To install Alert Manager 2007 you must be a SharePoint farm administrator with Remote Desktop access to at least one SharePoint Web-Front-End server.

The Alert Manager 2007 product is distributed from our download site as a self-extracting .EXE file (See the download link in the right menu). Download this file to any location on one of your SharePoint Web-Front-End servers. Double click the .EXE and click the Setup button to begin the self-extraction process.

Setup

The self-extraction process will unzip the installation files to a temporary directory and launch the installation menu. The installation menu contains four links, click Install Alert Manager 2007 Standard Edition to begin the installation process.

Install Alert Manager 2007 Standard Edition

This option will install the Alert Manager 2007 product with a production or trial license to the SharePoint Web-Front-End server you are currently logged in to. You will only need to install the Alert Manager 2007 product to one SharePoint Web-Front-End server if you have multiple WFE server in your farm.

Install Stand-Alone License

This option will install a Alert Manager 2007 production or trial license to the SharePoint Web-Front-End (WFE) server you are currently logged in to. Each SharePoint Web-Front-End server needs an Alert Manager 2007 license. This option is useful if Alert Manager 2007 has already been installed to your SharePoint server farm from another Web-Front-End server. In addition, this option is also required to install a license to a 64-bit server.

Purchase Alert Manager

This option will open a new browser window to the SharePoint Solutions Shop. This link is most useful if you are trying to purchase an production license to upgrade a trial license or if you would like to purchase an additional license for an additional Web-Front-End server.

Contact Customer Service

This option will open a new browser window to the SharePoint Solutions Contact Us page. The Contact Us page will allow you to send question or comments to the SharePoint Solutions software team.

Installation Menu

The Alert Manager 2007 installation process begins with a welcome page, click Next to continue.

You will then be presented with the Alert Manager 2007 End-User License Agreement (EULA). Read the agreement, if you accept the terms click I accept the terms in the License Agreement and click Next.

Next you will be presented with a confirmation to begin the installation process, click Install.

Begin Install

During the installation you will be show a progress bar to monitor the status of the installation. The installation process will copy Alert Manager 2007 application resource files to your SharePoint Web-Front-End server. The installation will not deploy any solutions or feature to your SharePoint farm. When the installation completes you will be presented a final message stating the installation has completed. To deploy Alert Manager 2007 resources to your SharePoint farm click Run the Component Configuration Manager. Click Finish.
