For an extranet site, the FBA users who have registered may use names that are not in the same format as the display name for those users who have access to the same site who are using Windows Authentication. Therefore, in SharePoint lists, the FBA users show up with their registered username, as opposed...

  • Can I change the Register.aspx page to include additional text for password requirements?

Hi, Even though we have customized the registration email sent from our extranet sites to external users, a number of them miss the bolded type where it states the requirements for the password. It was suggested that we change the registration page so that it too details the requirements for a password...

  • Re: FBA pointing to Active Directory

Yes, SharePoint and ExCM can use any Membership provider for operations like authentication, add users, reset passwords. The .NET framework provides two membership providers out-of-the-box (ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider, SQLMembershipProvider). You can use the ActiveDirectoryMembership provider to...

  • FBA pointing to Active Directory

1.) Can ExCM's FBA be configured to point to Active Directory (i.e. external user hits site, enters username/pw of their AD account in the web-based form, and is authenticated)? 2.) All the documentation I have seen indicates that FBA pointing towards a SQL store is advisable over AD when working...

  • Re: User sent to the login page before registration

You need to configure anonymous access so pages like register and reset my password can be access without authentication. Microsoft has a great article which describes how to setup anonymous access and what behavior you can expect. You will find step-by-step instructions in the ‘Enable anonymous access...

  • Re: ExCM Language

Sorrry for the confusion. Yes, you can create a top-level site in german but run ExCM in english. To do this you will need to perform a manual installation of your SharePoint Forms-Based-Authentication site. There are a number of websites that can guide you through the configuration. Personally, I like...
