    Adding SharePoint Groups to alerts

    Hello,

I am having an issue adding SharePoint Groups to the alerts.

    • I choose "Add Alert to SharePoint Group"
    • Create the alert and hit OK

After that, no confirmation is sent out and the alerts appear as Unassigned. I posted a test item on the list to see if I would be alerted, but there was no alert sent. Has anyone seen this or is this a known issue.

    Any assistance would be appreciated,

    UPDATE: Saw this posting: http://software.sharepointsolutions.com/Community/t/88.aspx.
Going to try the informaton posted here. Thanks, S

UPDATE 2: Followed the instructions in the link above and this is still not working. No notification is being sent to the SharePoint Group, no alerts are being generated and it is still showing as "Unassigned" in the alerts list, when it is clearly assigned to the SharePoint group in the Alert window. Thanks, S

Re: Adding SharePoint Groups to alerts

There were some issue with the SharePoint Group alert feature in versions older than 1.0.8122.1. Read the release notes here....

Can you please provide your Alert Manager 2007 version number? You can find it from the following URL...

    http://server_name/_layouts/SPSolutions/AlertManager/ProductInfo.aspx

For the SharePoint Group alert feature to work correctly the alert needs to be assigned to a user that has read access to the list or list item and you must be using a custom alert template. The latest version of Alert Manager 2007 should enforce these constraints. However, you may need to remove the old alert and recreate it with the updated versions to ensure the two constraints are satisfied.

Disregard the above post... I couldn't delete it for some reason...

the version # is 1.0.7351.2 ... how do I update it to 1.0.8122.1? I can not find any update info on your KB...
